10 steps to prepare you for your travels

May 15, 2023

Over the next 5 months, I’ll be releasing my top 10 things to do to prepare you for long term travel.

This blog series is intended to prepare you as much as possible before you depart for your adventure. Remember departing for your adventure doesn’t have to be from your hometown, it can be from anywhere in the world.

Just remember that wherever you’re going, and whatever you’re doing, having some sense of what you’re planning to do before you depart will make it less likely you encounter unforeseen issues but also give you a better capacity to handle them if they do arise.

Me on my first ever trip, with not much idea! This is a good example of what not to do… at least in terms of packing!

So get ready for a torrent of information, coming your way!

Over the course of the next 10 weeks we’re going to cover:

      • Have a specific dream or goal in mind

      • The best trip planning and location research tools

      • How to build a budget you can stick to

      • How to learn a foreign language in 3 months

      • To insure or not to insure? – how to get a good deal that gives good coverage

      • How to minimize luggage but maximize options

      • Ticking off the “MUST-DO BEFORE I DEPART” chores efficiently

      • Train Yourself to Listen with Care and Genuinely Show Interested in Others

      • How to develop skills that earn you $$$ while you travel.

      • Plan your route carefully… Then throw away the plan!

We’ll be kicking off next week with the first post on why I think it’s important to have some sort of vision or purpose for what you’d like your trip to look like and/or what you hope to get out of it?
