Gratitude

Thou shalt always be grateful for the good fortune and incredible circumstance that allows you to travel. ... AND ... Thou shalt always express gratitude to the many who aid your voyage.

For Jenny and Barry, my parents. My determination and my passion for life are a direct result of their unyielding and unwavering belief in me…. and for introducing me to the world and giving me a love of travel.

The act of showing that you are grateful for any of the many fortunes afforded to you, or the kindness shown to you by others, not only enriches your own life by improving everything from your sleep to your immune system, but it also strengthens relationships and helps you build new ones with those whom you encounter.

Gratitude is the shortest lived emotion, so they say…

I started this principal with a dedication, because it demonstrates what feeling has given me the most amount of courage to face what comes at you in life and how I’ve been able to approach challenges head on.

It is every day that I count myself blessed by having loving friends and family, coming from a wealthy part of the world and having the opportunity to do mostly whatever I wanted with my life.

That thankfulness inside me, drives me to make the most of every moment I have on this great green earth and to try and inspire those around me to do the same. Gratitude is simple to express, meaningful both for those who you show gratitude to and yourself, and has a strong impact on an individual’s overall happiness.

When you’re traveling you have even more to be grateful for:

… epic views …

… friendly locals …

… amazing adventures …

… and new experiences …

True, travel can be challenging on a daily basis, but just the fact that you’re there, should be enough to lift the spirits some!

Try to show gratitude to people on the road, you’ll find your path much smoother and richer.

Remember, you’re out there, often all on your own. There are always people or places that support you to find your way and reach your destinations.

Verbalize your appreciation to them, whether they be living or non-living.

Challenge:

Keep a gratitude journal.

Find a time, somewhere in your day, everyday, to write down at least 1 thing you’re grateful for.

Slowly build on it…

… 5 things …

… 10 things …

… 20 things …

How many can you do?

Being grateful sets you in a positive mindset, leaving you open to endless possibilities… Especially when you travel!

Think of this as just the beginning of your gratitude journey, there’s so much more you can do.
